Preview: fewer tools, more time with your sources

Arivu’s next step is a smaller product, not another dashboard. The September preview puts Home, Library, Notes, and Search in the main navigation. Review and Graph stay under More. Capture remains available throughout.

This work is in open app PRs. It is not merged or part of the current installer release.

What leaves the app

Tasks, recurring reminders, Board, Focus, stage, priority, next-action controls, typed objects, calendar import, and the standalone Insights page are retired in this preview. Daily writing becomes ordinary dated notes.

Those features made Arivu ask too many questions about how to manage work. Its job is narrower: help you keep a source, understand it, remember what matters, and reuse it. A separate calendar or task tool can own deadlines.

What happens to existing writing

Retiring a control must not mean losing what you wrote. Useful legacy content becomes editable notes. Full JSON backups retain the exact original records. Editing or deleting a converted note survives restart and repeated import.

Old planning APIs return a retirement response instead of accepting work that will never run. Queued reminder emails no longer send. Old UI links lead to the relevant remaining view rather than a missing page.

What stays

Self-hosting, capture, preserved evidence, notes, local search, links, export, offline capture queues, the extension, and the CLI remain. The light-only design stays. Graph still lets you inspect a focused set of relationships; Review still helps you revisit material without a required study schedule.

Optional source conversations and quizzes fit this smaller scope. They help you use what you saved, rather than manage another queue. AI remains optional for reading, capture, notes, and search.
