A new look for Arivu

Warmer paper surfaces, softer cards, serif headings, and a calmer sign-in screen. Where things are and how they work has not changed.

Arivu looks different today, and works the same. The app has been restyled from top to bottom, and it ships in Arivu 1.8.0.

Home in 1.8.0, with invented reading notes. The same places, on warmer surfaces.

What you will notice

  • Warm paper. The page is a soft, warm off-white instead of stark white, so long sessions of reading and writing are easier on the eyes.
  • Softer cards. Panels lose their outlines. A light shadow and a little background tint now separate one thing from the next, and thin hairlines divide long lists.
  • Serif headings. Titles use STIX Two Text, a serif face that suits reading. It is bundled with Arivu, so there is nothing extra to install.
  • Charcoal buttons, coral accents. Main actions are a dark charcoal with a subtle gradient. Coral is saved for emphasis and focus, so it stands out when it appears.
  • A calmer sign-in. The sign-in screen is now split in two: the form on one side, a still, dithered artwork panel on the other.

What stayed the same

Home, Library, Notes, and Search are still the main places, with Review and Graph under More. Routes, navigation, shortcuts, and every workflow behave as they did in 1.7.0. Your data, imports, exports, backups, browser extension, and CLI are untouched. The first visit after you upgrade fetches the new styles, and that is the only thing you need to do.

Arivu is still a light-only interface. This is a refresh of the same design direction that began with A warmer, lighter Arivu, not a theme switch.

Try it

Upgrade to 1.8.0 following Self-Hosting Arivu. The screenshots across this site now show the new look too, so what you see here is what you get.
