Arivu 1.7.0
A smaller, more focused Arivu with source conversations, optional quizzes, faster large libraries, and updated dependencies.
Arivu 1.7.0 is out. It does three things: it cuts the app down to what matters, it lets you ask questions of your own sources, and it makes big libraries quicker.
What’s in it
- A smaller app. Home, Library, Notes, and Search are the main places, with Review and Graph under More. Tasks, reminders, Board, Focus, typed objects, calendar import, and the Insights page are gone. Read Fewer tools, more time with your sources.
- Ask your sources. Chat with up to eight sources you choose, check the exact quote behind every claim, save answers as notes, or take an optional three-question quiz. You see the passages and the AI provider before anything is sent. Read Ask your sources, then test your recall.
- Less waiting. Notes, focused Graph, search rebuilds, and exports do far fewer repeated lookups. Read Less waiting on big libraries.
- Maintenance. The Go toolchain, the bundled SQLite driver, and the capture runtime’s libraries are updated, including security fixes. Sign-in and invite pages are simpler forms.
Before you upgrade
Take a backup first. On upgrade, anything useful from the retired tools becomes an editable note, and the exact original records stay in full backups. Backups made by 1.7.0 use a new format that includes source conversations and quiz sessions.
Two behaviors change for anything you built around the old tools: calls to the retired planning API now get a clear “gone” answer, and queued reminder emails no longer send.
Reading, capture, notes, links, and search work without an AI provider, as before. Conversations and quizzes need one. See Self-Hosting Arivu for upgrade steps and the documentation for the new workflow.
